CROWNS AND BRIDGES

The range of applications in crown and bridge technology is broad, and a variety of materials are used, including zirconia, non-precious metal (NPM), NPM cast, NPM milled, NPM LaserMelting, titanium LaserMelting, full ceramics, and e.max (crowns, veneers, and inlays).

Crowns are indicated for tooth restoration when the tooth’s defect is so extensive that it cannot be adequately repaired with a filling, inlay, or partial crown. To create a crown, the tooth must first be prepared and circumferentially reduced. Subsequently, an impression or intraoral scan is taken to manufacture the artificial tooth crown based on this data.

The critical quality criteria for crowns include a perfect crown margin, optimal shape adaptation to the natural appearance, harmonious integration into the individual bite, and the compatibility of the materials used.

A bridge is attached to abutment teeth, which are either natural teeth that are circumferentially reduced and crowned to anchor the bridge or implants. Modern dentistry aims to preserve untouched teeth whenever possible, so the decision of whether to close a missing tooth gap with a bridge or provide an implant is made carefully. In the anterior tooth area, patients are increasingly opting for single-tooth implants.

In the Dentallabor Mathi, all work is generally produced using the CAD/CAM process, ensuring the highest possible precision.

For ceramic work, a standard layering technique is typically used for the crown. However, Dentallabor Mathi emphasizes individual layering according to the patient’s actual layering scheme to achieve the best possible aesthetic result.

When manufacturing zirconia and all-ceramic work, it is essential for Zahntechnikermeister Mathi and his team to know the condition of the tooth stump. This information is also found on the order form, allowing them to achieve the desired outcome in collaboration with the dentist.
